January 4, 2015 A Model for Prayer----Excerpts from Uniform Series Int'l Adult Bible Studies book, Wikipedia, Ligioner Ministries, and The Holy Bible In Luke 11:2-4 Jesus told his disciples how to pray. Jesus told them, "When you pray, say: 'Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.Give us each day our daily bread.Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.' " This is a "guideline" to learn to pray, a model in which to structure our prayers from. we must not only commit it to heart, but live it out as well. We should follow God's plan to interact with him, and it should come from within our hearts. We as Christians take for granted that everyone knows and has encountered " The Lord's Prayer". It is found in Matthew 6:9-13. It is similar to what is found above in Luke. "Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.Give us this day our daily bread.Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us.And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil .For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever, Amen" Praise God, look upon his name as holy. His kingdom is a divine gift to us.Ask for what you need, the most important things needed for everyday survival.Ask for forgiveness of our sins and make a commitment to forgive those that have sinned against us.Ask God to help us not go astray/ get caught up in material pleasures. Ask God to bring us away from the devil and all evil. God's kingdom/glory is a great victory! we end our prayers with "Amen"...may it be as God has said. Through prayer, our needs and hopes become known. this should bring us closer to God.We should not pray for show or use many empty words. We should pray honestly but unselfishly.God always answers prayers. He answers in his time and it may not always be the answer you hoped for. Luke 11:9 "And I tell you:Ask and you will receive. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened to you." When God knocks on the door to our heart, we too, shall open and let him in. We will then have eternal life. Song: "Love Lifted Me" Have a great week and God Bless! --AML
Happy New Year!!! I would like to share a little of the word that Bro. Mark Wade brought to us on Sunday December 28, 2014. "This is the day the Lord has made;let us rejoice and be glad in it" " Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever" Psalms 118:24 & 29. Suggestions for the New Year***Holy Habits** 1) Be better to your body; your body is a temple; treat it that way!(better food, exercise) 2)Start with God every morning (pray, read the Bible -the book of John is a suggestion, devotions) 3)Build each other up in the Church and in life(prayer, positive encouragement) 4)Control your tongue-(no profanity, no gossip, give someone an encouraging word at least once a day) The tongue is our biggest weapon.Think before you speak! 5)Become more joyful. You were made special by God and He knows every bad thing about you and still loves you!! We are all sinners, all from a long line of royalty, no one and nothing can separate us from the love of God!! Our salvation is given to us freely we have to receive it by faith. In this New Year use the clean slate we are given and retrain ourselves in spirituality and improve our holy living.Make the choice to stop being hurtful and start being helpful.Every day is a gift and starts new! Filling it with positivity or negativity is your choice! "Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ" Ephesians 4:15 ***I also found good supportive reading in the Book of James. We closed with "Victory in Jesus" ; take a closer look at the lyrics. It is a big favorite of Ben's!! we invite everyone to join us for the word of God each Sunday.Sunday school every week at 10am and preaching every 2nd and 4th Sundays at 11am. our crowd is small but "For where two or three are come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:20. God Bless! ----AML
